Women in Jazz

Wednesday March 17, 2021
6:30 PM until 7:30 PM

This is a Zoom event!

Join Galen Abdur-Razzaq of Flute Juice Productions for the program Women in Jazz. This program highlights the significant contribution of women in jazz. Students are encouraged to participate verbally. During the performance students learn the five pillars of jazz: melody, harmony, rhythm, syncopation and improvisation, and are given a demonstration of how each of these elements influence jazz.

Galen is an extraordinary flutist with an extensive performance career.  He is also a riveting speaker with encyclopedic knowledge on the history of jazz and the Civil Rights Movement.  Galen studied at Berklee College of Music and holds a Master’s Degree in Education and Performing Arts from Rutgers University, New Jersey.
