Mount Hope Raids
Thursday May 25, 2017
The Dighton Public Library invites all local history buffs of all ages to join us for a visual and interactive trip through the events of 1778, known as the Mount Hope Raids. British forces attacked several towns in Mount Hope Bay and up the Taunton River, including what we know today as Fall River and Freetown. Chris Macdonald will present these events and share stories of those that experienced these events. He will display a functioning Short Pattern Brown Bess Musket, most commonly used by the British and Colonists of the period. He will also have artifacts and tools to show. This presentation will be shown in association with the Lafayette Durfee Historical Foundation and the Lafayette Durfee House.
Registration is not required.
