"Fred & Gene & Michael & Jerry & Bob"
Film and discussion by Dr.Marc Strauss
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954; 1 hour, 43 minutes)—Rollicking musical perfectly integrates song, dance and story, with Howard Keel’s decision to get himself a wife inspiring rowdy brothers to follow suit. Michael Kidd’s energetic dance numbers stand out, especially the “Barn-Raising Number” and “Lonesome Polecat,” with ballet dancers Jacques D’Amboise and others featured.
