“Limber Up Chair Yoga” is taught by Diane Negvesky who teaches for the Rye YMCA and leads classes and fitness instruction at The Osborn in Rye for Independent Living. The 30 minute class includes seated and standing exercises with the support of a chair.
Chair yoga is a general term for practices that modify yoga poses so they can be done with a chair. It is a great way for older adults to get the wonderful health benefits of yoga. Yoga is an excellent way for older adults to loosen and stretch painful muscles, reduce stress, and improve circulation. It also reduces anxiety, helps lower blood pressure, protects joints, and builds strength and balance. At this time that we all must have to work from home, these exercises help a lot to stay focused, relax a little bit and maintain calm and posture. It’s open to the whole family, not just for adults.
Join us in these series of exercises that will help to keep us calm and families working together!
