Virtual Poetry Workshop: Writing the Land with Dr. Laura Apol, Lansing’s Poet LaureateSaturday February 13, 2021
1:00 PM until 3:00 PM
Stretch your creativity in this two-part poetry workshop, led by Lansing’s current Poet Laureate, Dr. Laura Apol. Laura is an associate professor of literacy, literature and creative writing in the MSU College of Education. Laura feels “Poems are about community—So much of a place, and people in a place, can be expressed and understood through poetry.”
In this workshop, participants will look at models of "place" poetry in the first week, with some writing done in the workshop and a prompt to take home; the second meeting will have additional in-session writing, with an opportunity to share writing resulting from the take-home prompt from the previous session. Please Note: This is the same workshop program presented in a face-to-face workshop last year. If a participant took the program last year, they should NOT take it this time. Since workshop sessions build on one another, participants are requested to commit to both workshops when they register. Time Change for the second workshop: The second workshop on February 20 takes place from 3-4:30 pm. Age group: Older teens and adults.
Please register by Feb.8, using the form available, below. A Zoom link will be sent to all registrants to join us at the Zoom Meeting.
