New York City based violinist Akiko Kobayashi will be presenting a classical violin recital including works from Bach to Stravinsky.  She will be accompanied by pianist Claudia Kobayashi.

New York-born violinist Akiko Kobayashi performs both solo and chamber music and has appeared as a soloist with the West Islip Symphony Orchestra, Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Suginami Kokaido Chamber Orchestra, and InterHarmony Festival Orchestra. Her recital appearances include Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in the Young Musicians Concert sponsored by the MTNA League and Steinway Hall in New York.  Her interests include baroque instruments and performance practices. Pianist Claudia Kobayashi was born in Osaka, Japan, and made her Tokyo debut with the Aurora orchestra playing the Bach Brandenburg Concerto No.3. She has appeared in venues such as the Ginza Energy Concert Hall and Higashi-Murayama Concert Hall in Tokyo.  Her other chamber appearances include the Romanian Atheneum in Bucharest and the Centro Culturale in Italy.  She started studying the piano at the age of four at the Sohai Pre-college division in Osaka and studied at the Toho School of Music.  Mrs. Kobayashi studied with Elena Shematoff-Hutchins, founder and executive director of the Special Music School in Manhattan, and pursued further studies at the Juilliard School with Asaff Weismann and Julie Jordan.


The Great Neck Library Music Advisory Committee, now in its 47th year, is co-chaired by founding member Gabe Chieco and Michele Ganz, and includes members Mary Dehn and Estelle Pace. This all volunteer committee of Great Neck residents represents a wide range of musical experience and performance.

Great Neck School District residents have priority for seating.
