Noted Gold Coast historian Orin Finkle will present this lecture and slide show featuring the mansions, gardens and people of early 1900s Long Island.
Finkle, who has the largest private archive of period Long Island mansion material in the country, has been compiling his collection for over thirty years. It has been a true labor of love. He says, “Evolving into a Gatsby era writer and historian has been a wonderful experience. Finkle’s mission is to “keep the memories of our rich Gold Coast heritage alive for future generations to enjoy, cherish and hopefully, pass on. Finkle has lectured at numerous colleges, libraries and historic societies. He has written over 200 articles on country estates and high society for numerous publications, including The New York Times.
