What Happened To The Founders’ Congress? presented by James Coll

Thursday November 15, 2018
2:00 PM until 3:00 PM

The most alarming contemporary feature of the government drafted by the Framers 230 years ago has been the self-imposed impotence of the Congress becoming more and more apparent over the course of every administration in the past 100 years.  Our discussion will take into account this diminishing congressional relevance as not only a reality but a systemic shift from the vision of those who created the Supreme law of the land.  In addition, we will discuss the upcoming congressional and state elections and their impact on the state and national governments.

James Coll is an Adjunct Professor of American and Constitutional History at Hofstra University and Nassau Community College, an NYPD detective and the founder of ChangeNYS, a nonprofit organization formed to educate New Yorkers about the need for nonpartisan civic understanding and political reform in the state.
