Ms. Tegzes will present a brief history of the cabaret style, concentrating on its most potent incarnation during the Weimar Republic and the onset of the Third Reich; and illustrating how its influence has been carried forward to the present.
Maria Tegzes is a vocalist whose performances have received critical acclaim throughout the United States and Europe. She is the lead singer and collaborative composer/arranger with her musically eclectic trio, IMPetus (with pianist, Geoffrey Burleson and guitarist, Dave Fabris). As a music instructor, she has given numerous classes and talks on Cabaret, various operas, and avant-garde art music at universities in the United States, Spain, Mexico, and England.
