The Lincoln Assassination w/ Historian Chris DaleyTuesday April 12, 2022

We will be joined by historian and author Chris Daley on Tuesday, April 12th as he presents on the assasination of Abraham Lincoln.
The presentation is about an hour in length. It begins with a short synopsis of the backdrop of the Civil War leading into a discussion about the plot to kidnap Lincoln and how that plot developed into a scheme to assassinate the President. Next, the movements of both Lincoln and Booth during the day of the assassination are meticulously chronicled using a simultaneous timeline. And then, the assassination is recounted in stunning detail. Subsequently, the escape and capture of John Wilkes Booth is fully described. Finally, the talk concludes with a vivid description of the trial of the all of the conspirators and execution of four - Mary Surratt, Lewis Powell, David Herold and George Atzerodt.
Mr. Daley is a historian and published author. He has been presenting talks on historical topics all over New England for over 25 years. He has been a history teacher in the Silver Lake Regional School District in Kingston
Massachusetts for 24 years. He has been involved in several historical organizations both public and private, including the Pembroke Historical Commission and Historical Society as well as the John Alden Historical Site in Duxbury. He and his wife Cathy live on the South Shore of Massachusetts during the winters and spend their summers at their house in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
