Until Help Arrives (You Are the Help!)
Wednesday February 21, 2018
10:00 AM until 12:00 PM
According to a recent National Academies of Science study, trauma is the leading cause of death for Americans under age 46. Life-threatening emergencies can happen fast and emergency responders aren’t always nearby. You may be able to save a life by taking simple actions immediately, because those nearest to someone with life-threatening injuries are best positioned to provide first care.
Colonel David W. Gavigan of the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office will give a free course in the basic skills of keeping people with life-threatening injuries alive until professional help arrives, on Wednesday, February 21 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Kingston Public Library. This course is for all experience levels and offers hands-on training. Course topics will include: Understanding how you make a difference in the chain of survival; Calling 911; Staying safe; Stop the bleeding; Position the injured; and Providing comfort.
