.Book Club will meet on September 13th to discuss the One Book One Region Title Exit West by Mohsin Hamid.
New members and guests are welcome. A limited number of copies of the selected titles are available at the circulation desk 3-4 weeks before each discussion.

“Exit West was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and was a finalist for The National Book Critics Circle Award. The novel follows two young people who meet in a country teetering on the brink of civil war. When it explodes, turning familiar streets into a patchwork of checkpoints and bomb blasts, they begin to hear whispers about doors—doors that can whisk people far away. About the author:
Mohsin Hamid was born in Lahore, Pakistan and spent the early years of his childhood in the United States. At the age of 18, he returned to the U.S. and graduated from Princeton University in 1993. In 1997, he graduated from Harvard Law School. He is the author of Moth Smoke and the international bestseller The Reluctant Fundamentalist. His essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The New York Review of Books.
Hamid now divides his time between Pakistan and abroad, spending time in Lahore, New York, London, and Mediterranean countries including Italy and Greece.”
The author will be coming to the region and will speak at Palmer Auditorium at Connecticut College on Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 P.M. The event is free.
