A Lyme Library Racial Equity Book Club Special Event- An evening with Gil Asakawa presenting on "Asians in American Pop Culture"-Zoom

At tonight's Racial Equity Book Club meeting we will review this month's book club selection "They Called Us Enemy" by George Takei. Many of you might know of Mr. Takei from his years of playing Hikaru Sulu the helmsman of the USS Enterprise on the TV and movie series Star Trek, but you might be unaware that he spent many years imprisoned in a Japanese internment camp as a child during WW II. In the graphic novel "They Called Us Enemy", Mr., Takei recalls what those years were like and how they formed his character and effected his life as well as the lives of his family members and friends. Copies of the book are available at the Lyme Public Library circulation desk.
