Segregated Worlds Film Series: Hey Boo!: Harper Lee and To Kill A Mockingbird
Thursday October 11, 2012
6:15 PM until 8:30 PM
Jeff Stoodt offers a new film series called "Segregated Worlds" which includes 3 films this Fall. This is a screening of Film #1, which is called "Hey Boo!: Harper Lee and To Kill A Mockingbird." This 2010 documentary, celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the novel, is, as Mark Feeney put it in The Boson Globe, "like a meeting of Oprah's Book Club." He calls it a "reverently chipper" film. Oprah Winfrey, Wally Lamb, Lee Smith, and Scott Turow are among the media and literary commentators on the book. Although the author didn't grant an interview, her friends and 90 year old sister did. The film also features interviews with personnel who made the famous movie of the novel. This movie choice is in honor of the 350th anniversary of the Town of Milton, and is a compliment to the Milton Reads (One Book, One Town) program for all to read Harper Lee's novel. Trivia will commence at 6:15 (with prizes!) and the film will start at 6:30. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library.
Location: Keys Community Room
