Wotiz Gallery Exhibit of Photography by Barbara Newman

Friday December 28, 2018
6:00 PM until 8:00 PM

This month there will be a photography exhibit on display in the Wotiz Gallery by Quincy resident Barbara Newman. These beautiful color landscapes were mostly taken at night and cover a very wide geographic area, which includes many fascinating places around the world.  This is what the photographer says about her work: “As the world around us gets more crowded and noisy, I find myself drawn to photographing the beautiful and peaceful landscape that surrounds us.  Spending hours with my camera and tripod photographing the Northern Lights, Milky Way, or a sunrise, never ceases to inspire me.  I hope it does the same for those who come to see the photographs.”  Ms. Newman has also exhibited at the Thomas Crane Library in Quincy, at the Harvard Science Center Atrium in Cambridge, the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Cambridge, and more.  She has spent most of her life taking art classes, working with crafts and taking travel photographs.  She switched from Film to Digital photography and this transition really came together for her on a trip to Iceland to photograph the Northern Lights.  This was a magical experience and she wants to keep that feeling of magic alive.  She continues to take pictures also at National Parks like Arches National Park in Utah or the simplicity of the fog along the Oregon coast.  To see more of her work, go to her website: https://barbaranewman.smugmug.com/    There will be a free and open reception for this display on Thursday evening, January 17th from 6-8 PM in the Gallery where you can meet the artist and view her lovely work.
