D-Day through the Eyes of Two Men

On June 6, 1944 the Allied forces invaded northern France by means of beach landings in Normandy.

In honor of the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, the Library is hosting an exhibit of original letters, photographs, and maps from WWII. These are the personal experiences shared by two men - Bob Rae, a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and Hugh Cort, the Deputy Commander over 118,000 troops (Advance Section Communications Zone). Cort was responsible for ammunition, equipment, and logistics for the D-Day Invasion.

Bob Rae lived in Mobile and Birmingham after the war. Hugh Cort, a career Army officer, was from Maryland and his wife was from the South.
