Creole Family Reunion: Revitalizing Mobile's Creole Past

Saturday October 3, 2020
10:00 AM

October is International Creole Heritage Month

Mobile has a deep, rich Creole history, often overlooked. The history is a fundamental thread to the fabric that is Mobile itself. Join us and the Mobile Creole Cultural & Historical Preservation Society as we present a month-long Facebook Live program celebrating this neglected history.

Our series, presented each Saturday morning at 10 a.m. will include Our Spanish History in the American Revolution by Sandra Rackard, Regent of the Needham Bryan Chapter NSDAR (October 3); Creole Language Learning with Dr. Christophe Landry (October 10); Genealogy 101 with Dr. Shawn L. Williams (October 17); and A Living Legacy, a special premiere event of the surviving members of Creole Fire No. 1 (October 24).

For more information, please call 251-494-2172 or email etheris@mplonline.org.

On Wednesday nights throughout the month of October we will have micro-reunions for those who preregister. Look for the micro-reunion event post on the Mobile Creole Cultural & Historical Preservation Society Facebook page.

This project is supported by a grant from the Alabama Humanities Foundation, a state partner with the National Endowment for the Humanities.
