In Honor of the 75th Anniversary of D-Day: A Service Couple in World War II Presented by Rick Geffken
Noted local historian, author, U.S. Army Officer and Vietnam Veteran Rick Geffken presents a multi-media talk on one family's experiences during the war years.
In addition to writing three books, Rick has presented historical research topics at dozens of historical societies and libraries. He has written numerous articles on Monmouth County history for The Two River Times; The Howell Times; The Crown newsletter of Christ Episcopal Church, Shrewsbury; and The Monmouth Connection newsletter of the Monmouth County Genealogy Society (he was also the Publisher of The Monmouth Connection).
Mr. Geffken will be followed by The Moondance Big Band, a dynamic ensemble with vocalists offering energetic, exciting live music from the 40's ... through today!
On June 6, 1944, thousands of soldiers from all over the world arrived in Normandy to defeat Nazism and re-establish freedom. The Monmouth County Library will be commemorating this historic day with a series of events, culminating on June 6, 2019, D-Day's 75th Anniversary.
Admission is free. Entrance doors open at 12:30 pm. Seats are available on a first come, first-served basis. We request that participants do not hold or reserve seats for others. Library staff reserves a number of seats for a limited time for family/friends of performers.
