Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month: Screening of Honor and Duty

Thursday May 30, 2019
2:00 PM until 4:00 PM

Honor and Duty: The Mississippi Delta Chinese is a documentary that took over 20 years to produce, and focuses on the almost unknown Chinese community in the heart of the Deep South. The Chinese men from the Delta made vital contributions to the US war effort in WWII. The transformational nature of their participation helped in the development of the community in the decades immediately after the war, and these Chinese Delta families made major contributions to the state of Mississippi and beyond.

This program will start with an introduction by Advocate and Community Volunteer, Ms. Shirley Ng, of Manalapan Township TV Network and American Legion Lt. B.R. Kimlau Chinese Memorial Post 1291. A short Q&A session will follow with Past National Commander Mr. Fang Wong, the first Asian American to have served in this position; Commander of Sons of American Legion, Mr. Corky Lee and Past Commander, Mr. Kenneth Wong, all of American Legion Lt. B.R. Kimlau Chinese Memorial Post 1291.
