Encore! Small Talk: Virtual History of Miniatures

Tuesday November 16, 2021
6:30 PM

Please register for this one-time, Encore Presentation of Small Talk: Virtual History of Miniatures

Presented by Miniaturist Darren T. Scala

Miniaturist Darren T. Scala will present the history of miniatures from the earliest known beginnings during the days of the ancient pharaohs in Egypt, to the renaissance era, when women of a certain social class created cabinet houses (the modern-day equivalent of a dollhouse), to today’s growing interest in small scale treats via Zoom. Be inspired by this “great big world of tiny.” Prepare to become a hobbyist, collector, or a miniatures enthusiast!

Darren is unapologetic about his passion for the tiny for as long as he can remember. He was captivated at an early age by watching Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood on television and fascinated by all of the tiny objects featured. A graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Darren had a longstanding career with Revlon, then founded D. Thomas Fine Miniatures, where he began showcasing quality scale works and miniatures in shows and ongoing exhibitions.

This session free of charge. Registration and internet access are required to attend. Register below to receive emailed information on how to access the program. The link will be emailed Monday, November 15 by 4:00 pm, after registration closes at noon.
