Ghost Stories as Holiday Tradition: How Charles Dickens and American Writers Made the Holidays Thrilling and Chilling
Leanna Renee Hieber, author, actress and ghost tour guide, takes you on a historic journey to the mid 19th Century where holiday traditions incorporated ghost stories thanks to A Christmas Carol and introduced lively (sometimes spooky) commercial and secular imagery into the bleak midwinter. Cozy up with some spirits!
Leanna Renee Hieber graduated from Miami University with a BFA in theatre and a focus in the 19th Century. She has performed in regional theatres around the country starring in Shakespeare, classical theatre, and adapting 19th century literature for the professional stage. A New York City resident, she is a licensed New York City tour guide, a member of AEA, SAG-AFTRA and has been featured in film and television shows like Boardwalk Empire and Mysteries at the Museum.
