Hike and History: Sandyfields and St. Johns in the Wilderness

Sandyfield was a settlement that was submerged when the swampy Beaver Pond was dammed to create Lake Welch in Harriman State Park by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. The historic St. John's in the Wilderness was built in 1880, and still holds services today. Learn about the families and history of Sandyfield and the people who have attended St. John's. This will be a 4-mile hike over uneven ground with changes in elevation. Registration starts Friday, September 13th at 9am. Receive additional instructions upon registering.
