Sunday May 6, 2018
2:00 PM until 3:00 PM
Nobel prize winning poet, writer, painter, thinker, maverick educational reformer and perhaps the greatest songwriter of all times - Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) - remains a revered figure in both Bangladesh and India. His songs depict a sublime oneness with nature, the universal and bridge differences in race, religion and color. For this performance Ms. Chakraborty will present Tagore's compositions accompanied by live music and a power-point presentation with translations of his lyrics (originally written in Bengali) in English. This program is part of the Newton Festival of the Arts.
