The Last Station is about the tumultuous last year in the life of Leo Tolstoy. Played by Christopher Plummer and Helen Mirren, the Tolstoys are a hilarious, passionate and deeply divided couple. As a grand gesture that exemplify his ideals, Tolstoy wants to give away all his worldly possessions, including the copyright to all his novels. His wife doesn’t agree with his ideals because it would leave their family with no income/inheritance. The fighting between the two is intense, but underneath it all, they love one other.
