Description: Paraprofessionals are often faced with significant behavior challenges. It is vital that they have a basic understanding of behavior management and change. Come and learn strategies that are effective in the inclusive general education classroom as well as in special education settings.

This workshop will address:

  • What proactive steps can a paraprofessional take to reduce the occurrence of behavior difficulties?
  • What responses on their part will help most students to quickly make better behavior choices?
  • What should a paraprofessional do when behavior is disrupting instruction?

Audience: K-12 Paraprofessionals

PDP/COA: 6 hours. 
Registration Fee: $149 NRC member districts. $169 Other districts.

About the Presenter: Polly Bath “is a widely recognized behavior expert in New England schools and beyond. She consults to and trains administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals on how to manage and change difficult school behavior. She has gained her reputation most especially by teaching educators how to change the difficult behaviors that have been the most resistant to change. 
     
Her strategies are effective in the inclusive general education classroom as well as in special education settings. Her successful techniques come from her extensive experiences as a teacher of students with emotional and behavioral disorders, plus her extended work as the New England consulting associate of the late behavior legend Dr. Mike Mezzocchi.
