Description:  English language learners need instruction that is differentiated to meet the needs unique to learning an additional language and grade appropriate content. Participants will approach the idea of differentiation of language from an asset-based perspective, recognizing that language learners bring many contributions to the school community. Participants will collaborate to customize instruction for ELLs utilizing the WIDA ELD* framework. While planning, participants will have time to reflect on how to create productive struggle in a safe learning environment.
     *WIDA ELD is the World-class Instructional Design & Assessment English Language Development

Audience:      Grades 1-12 Educators, Curriculum Directors

Presenter: Anne Dolan, WIDA Certified Consultant, has many years of experience as an ELL teacher, professor, WCEPS/WIDA-certified instructor, and MATSOL trainer. Anne is a member of the MATSOL team selected by DESE to provide local WIDA training and has been involved in every level of implementation of WIDA at the state and national levels. Anne’s hallmark is modeling and engaging participants with effective strategies and practices for ELLs in her coursework. 

Registration Fee: FREE for districts included in NRC's Title III Consortium Grant. (NRC, Abington, Avon, Bridgewater-Raynham, East Bridgewater, Hanover, Norwell, Rockland, West Bridgewater, Whitman-Hanson)
                            $299 non-member districts, if space is available. 

Hours/PDPs: 15 PDPs including online component and outside work between sessions 

Register by: Thursday, December 20, 2018. Register online through your school district’s SmartPD link to the Collaborative offerings, through NRC’s SmartPD at www.northrivercollaborative.org on the PD webpage, or by fax.
The first 25 seats are prioritized for staff from NRC Title III Consortium district staff.
Registrations from other districts may be shifted to the waiting list if space is not available.
