Description: Paraprofessionals play an essential role in supporting students with disabilities in a wide range of learning environments. This training will look at the role of the paraprofessional supporting students in the general education setting.  Participants will learn a variety of instructional strategies that enhance a student's ability to benefit from his or her instruction. Some strategies that will be covered include effective questioning, cueing or jogging the memory, scribing, note taking, adapting study guides, test taking and fostering independence. 

Audience: K-12 Special Education Paraprofessionals in General Education Classrooms

PDP/COA: 6 hours.

About the Presenter: Carol Kosnitsky is the nationally recognized and popular author of "IEP Goals That Make a Difference: An Administrator's Guide to Improving the Process" (2008, LRP Publications), which is widely used by administrators and teachers. As a distinguished special education consultant with more than 35 years in the field, Carol provides consultation and professional development across the United States. 
     Carol's work focuses on improving outcomes for students with disabilities through increased access to the general education curriculum. She is partiicularly sought after for training and consulting regarding: the development of relevant and measurable IEPs, aligning of IEPs with the Common Core, and the collaboration between general and special education to improve education for all students. Carol Kosnitsky is a consultant with Cristia Lesher Associates
