Visiting a spring garden brings the joy of seeing the first buds and blossoms emerging after a long winter. Visiting a summer garden provides a view of the rich vibrant panorama of summer flowers. But when visiting a garden on acrisp autumn day, a riot of rusts, reds and oranges unfolds spectacularly before you. Chrysanthemums, fall daisies, sedum, monkshood, asters and dahlias spread their color against the fiery autumn foliage of sugar maples, hickory, pin oak and dogwood. We’ll visit 10 gardens, 4 late summer and 6 at full autumn color. You‘ll take home comprehensive handouts about the 35 public gardens in the NYC area, including where to eat and what else to do in the vicinity of each garden we visit. Prizes are awarded. All garden lovers are invited!
