Bobwhite Quail vs Ticks with Ranger Eric

Friday April 26, 2024
1:00 PM until 2:00 PM

Families

This year, our Library will once again be incubating Northern Bobwhite Quail eggs with the expectation that when hatched and matured, the birds will be released into designated areas on Long Island.  These birds are particularly adept at eating ticks. Please join us as we welcome Ranger Eric Powers of the Center for Environmental Education & Discovery as he explains this vital program. His presentation will detail the life cycle of Quail, their ecology, why the project was begun in 2003, and how it can help our environment and community as well as information about the public release of the mature birds.
