Jews On Long Island's East End

Karl Grossman, whose paternal grandparents settled in Sag Harbor more than a century ago, will discuss the history of Jews on the East End and their places of worship. He will talk about the oldest synagogue on Long Island, Temple Adas Israel in Sag Harbor; the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton; Congregation Tifereth Israel in Greenport; North Fork Reform Synagogue in Cutchogue; Temple Israel in Riverhead; The Hampton Synagogue in Westhampton Beach; Conservative Synagogue of the Hamptons in Bridgehampton; and the newest houses of worship on the East End, the chabads in Southampton, East Hampton and Montauk. He will explore the variety that exists among the various Jewish communities and how their distinct characteristics have influenced their history.
