EventKeeper : Tell a Friend
Writing Workshop: Recalling the Military through Memoir

Saturday October 19, 2019
1:30 PM until 3:30 PM

A three-part series introducing creative non-fiction memoir writing for veterans, family members, and others affected by war. Often veterans never tell the stories that burn in their hearts.  Join us as we write, edit and create our work through a process of constructive critique, a journey of enrichment, setting our stories to paper and bringing them to life. Novice and seasoned writers are welcome. Ages 18+

Facilitated by Dan New

Dan New is a combat veteran who served in Vietnam. Published both locally and nationally, he has read a number of his works on the local NPR affiliate, and has studied and read before the NYS Writers Institute. He is in the process of finishing a full-length memoir based on his experiences in Vietnam, his struggle with PTSD, and his reconciliation journey in 2015 to Vietnam with Soldier’s Heart.   A member of the Syracuse Veterans Writing Group, he holds a BFA from Empire State College.

This 3 week long workshop meets once per week

made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
