George Washington's Grand Tour of Long Island

After being elected President, George Washington set out to tour the new nation.  He spent five days on Long Island in April 1790 and was honored at each stop.  He wrote extensive diary entries about his impressions.  Join Dr. Joanne S. Grasso, a professor at NYIT and an author of two books on Long Island History as she traces this momentous journey. Registration begins Tuesday, May 7th at the Reference Desk.
