Event: Hot Coffee Law documentary

Tuesday October 23, 2012
6:00 PM until 8:30 PM

Hot Coffee - Exposes how corporations spent millions on a propaganda campaign to distort Americans' view of lawsuits, forever changing the civil justice system. From the infamous case of the woman who sued McDonalds over spilled coffee to the saga of the Mississippi Supreme Court Justice deemed "not corporate enough" by business interests, this program tears apart the conventional wisdom about "frivolous lawsuits." As part of the presentation, the CTLA will provide an attorney to lead a short panel discussion following the film about how the issues raised impact the legal system here in Connecticut. This film was selected at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and has been featured on HBO over the past year. It is an interesting, thought provoking film about the civil justice system and the influence of big business on our system. Register for this program by clicking the button below or contact the Reference Department at 860-628-0947 x 5.
