Bridging the Gap: Deaf and Hearing Cultures

Sunday September 15, 2019
2:00 PM until 3:00 PM

Many deaf people in the U.S. are united by American Sign Language – which differs from English – and by a culture with characteristics that differ from those of  mainstream hearing culture. This culture is known as Deaf Culture.

Attendees of this workshop will be introduced to  various facets of American deaf culture through demonstration and discussions and learn strategies to respectfully bridge the gap between cultures. Exposure to some basic American Sign Language will also be touched upon.

Free, all welcome.
