America's Homeless Big Cats: An Animal Welfare Issue

Julia Doane is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Exeter, NH. Prior to her role in Animal Law Enforcement, Julia worked at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at Nevins Farm in Methuen, MA as an Animal Welfare Specialist. Julia's experience with large cats comes from her time at Big Cat Rescue, a rescue for exotic cats, located in Tampa, FL

This presentation will walk you through how exotic cats made their way to Big Cat Rescue -ranging from surrenders from owners of exotic pets to animals coming in from the entertainment industry. Julia will describe the different species of wild cats along with common reasons they have been brought into captivity in the human world. This presentation will help teach you the differences between legitimate sanctuaries vs. animals in captivity for financial gain. Come see how you can help while learning about these amazing creatures!

Free, Adults & Teens welcome.
