Making Theater Happen: Becoming an ActorTuesday November 19, 2019
12:00 PM until 1:30 PM
Join us at Storrs Library as former theater director and professor Fred Sokol guides participants to develop their acting skills. You'll begin with the basics, progressing through improv, scripted works, and maybe even write your own scenes to perform! Participants will contribute to the progression of the program depending on their interests and comfort level. This is an 8-week Tuesday program on the following dates: 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, and 11/19. Join us for any or all sessions. This series will focus on beginner skills, but actors of all levels are welcome to attend!
Fred Sokol was Director of Theater Arts at American International College and Bay Path University, and ran the theater department at Asnuntuck Community College for three decades where he is now Professor Emeritus. As an arts journalist, he has reviewed more than 2500 plays and interviewed many prominent actors. Fred wrote theater commentary for The Springfield Republican for twenty-five years, and these days he reviews professional theater in Connecticut and the Berkshires for www.talkinbroadway.com. He is a member of the American Theater Critics Association.
