Monday Matinees: BLACKKKLANSMANMonday February 11, 2019
12:00 PM until 2:00 PM
The Stratford Library’s popular “Monday Matinees” series continues with a screening of the current Oscar nominated film, “BlacKKKlansman” on February 11 at noon. The series, which presents recent, popular films monthly on Monday afternoons, is free and open to the public.
Spike Lee (“Do the Right Thing”, “Malcolm X”) directs the incredible true story about Ron Stallworth (John David Washington), the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department. In what seems to be an outlandish plan, Stallworth bravely sets out on a dangerous mission to infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan. The film won critically raves from critics last year and is currently nominated for six Academy Awards including “Best Picture”, “Best Director” and “Best Supporting Actor” (Adam Driver). “BlaKKKlansman” is rated R and runs 135 minutes.
Movies in the “Monday Matinees” series are shown uncut on widescreen in the Stratford Library’s Lovell Room. The 2019 film schedule is currently available at the library.
