Lifelong Learners: Loss of the USS Indianapolis

Tuesday November 19, 2019
1:00 PM until 2:30 PM

Bob Begin will talk about the USS Indianapolis, a World War II tragedy in the Pacific. The Indianapolis, which delivered the atomic bomb to be dropped on Hiroshima, was sunk by Japanese torpedoes plunging nearly 900 crewmen into the ocean. Due to an incredible series of blunders by the Navy Dept. the ship was not even noted as being missing for five days.  During that time, the men in the water faced numerous life threatening challenges until rescue finally came.

Lifelong Learners programs are co-sponsored by Stratford Senior Services and Stratford Library. All programs are free and open to the public.
