Michigan Lighthouses Seen Through the Eyes of the Author

Thursday September 23, 2021
7:00 PM until 7:45 PM

Learn about the lighthouses of Michigan, including Whitefish Point Lighthouse, White Shoal Lighthouse and Grand Traverse Lighthouse, with local writer Tracy Huston, author and illustrator of My Favorite Lighthouses of Michigan. Discover fascinating facts about Michigan history. Explore the writing, illustration and publication processes of her book.

“I created this book for children, with hope of passing on my love, the history and beauty of our amazing Michigan lighthouses,” Huston said. “I hope this book will encourage my young readers to one day visit some of Michigan’s historic lighthouses.”

The book, which is intended for people of all ages but is mostly geared toward a younger audience, shares quite a bit about Huston’s love for the many lighthouses seen across Michigan. The book also is dedicated to her father, Lloyd Huston, who died November 10, 2002.

Huston was able to complete this book with the assistance of Goodwill’s Micro-enterprise program.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
