Event:	SEPAC: Anxiety and Depression in Young Children Wednesday April 10, 2013 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM Anxiety and depression are affecting individuals at a much younger age today as in generations past. NAMI’s philosophy on mental illness is that it is biologically based and this program will touch on ways to communicate with children experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression as well as the professionals they are working with. Presented by by Valerie Hammond, Director of Programs for Children and Adolescents, NAMI Mass. Ms. Hammond will provide tools to parents and caregivers on how to seek professional evaluation and how these diagnosed disorders may impact a child’s ability to function within a school setting and in their families and communities. The presentation will include suggestions of resources and strategies to promote successful independence for these children.
