VMH Employee ACTIVE Shooter Training
Class Begins in MOB A & B
Workplace gun violence is a tragic reality in our businesses. VMH is entrusted with providing expert medical care in safe and secure environments for patients, staff, and visitors. We are faced with planning for emergencies of all kind, ranging from active shooters, violent behavior, as well as threats from fires, tornadoes, floods, and pandemics of infectious diseases. Many of these emergencies occur with little to no warning; therefore, it is critical to plan in advance to help ensure the safety, security, and general welfare of all members of the health care community.
The training that you receive today is something that you can use in all facets of your day to day lives not just work. This is a tool that each of you will be able to take with you and utilize whether you are in Church, school, Grocery Store ,etc… Adoption and proper implementation of a Shooter Safety system (ALICE) can provide all staff with the skills, training, and response options necessary to save lives.
Today we are going to discuss some practices that will enhance your probability of survival if you every find yourself faced with an Active Shooter situation. We will listen to real life scenarios and discuss options that may have helped reduce the number of incidents, discuss what we can do as an individual to help, and finally we will do some skits/examples of shootings that we may come into contact with.
When we come to the skits if any of you are not comfortable/unable to participate please let us know as we do have some tasks for you during the skits that will help the group.
