WOODSTOCK 50th ANNIVERSARY EVENT!!
Music, Food, Trivia, Costumes!!!
Come Re-live the Magic!
2 - 4 p.m. - Library Plaza Program Room
Ventress Memorial Library will host a free event to mark the 50th anniversary of Woodstock on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. in the Library Plaza Program Room. The groundbreaking music festival was held from August 15 to 18 in 1969, on Max Yasgur's farm in Bethel, New York. Marshfield residents Derek Gunn, Bill Dunn and Joe Kodzis will be on hand to give perspectives on the counter-culture era and help all to remember the music. The Woodstock tribute is meant to be a multi-generational celebration combining memories of those who enjoyed the original music and festival, with introducing a younger generation to the music and culture of the 1960s. Themed refreshments will be served. Woodstock music will be played; a short film screened; and karaoke and dancing will liven up the afternoon. A display table will contain books and memorabilia from the era, and there will be a trivia contest and a free raffle. Participants are encouraged to bring in personal mementos, especially copies of the albums from the era and any photos. Hippie dress-up is optional. This event is free and open to the public; no tickets are required. All ages are invited to attend.
