Dance Around the World: Traditional and Multicultural Dancing and Music Monday August 5, 2019
6:30 PM until 7:30 PM
Kick up your heels to live fiddle music by Tamarack with caller Paul Rosenberg. Enjoy a tradition of community dancing and music handed down from generations. The Homespun Community Dancers will get everyone involved, especially those who have not danced before. Participants will have fun with the easy-to-learn American barn dance favorites: circles, squares, contras, as well as folk dances from around the world, including Ireland, The Netherlands, Russia, Polynesia, Israel, Latin America, France, Scandinavia, China and Africa. The toe-tapping tunes consist of reels, jigs, polkas, hornpipes and waltzes. Instruments include fiddle, banjo, flute, pennywhistle, clarinet, guitar, recorder, and percussion. While participation in the dancing is encouraged, it's also fun to just watch and listen! For grades 2+ and adults. Please register.
