Family Book Discussion : Crenshaw - A Celebration of Family, Friendship and Resilience

Friday December 8, 2023
5:30 PM until 7:00 PM

Crenshaw book discussion

Jackson and his family have fallen on hard times. There's no more money for rent and not much for food, either. His family and dog may have to live in their minivan. Again. Crenshaw is a large, outspoken and imaginary cat that has come back into Jackson's life to help him. But is an imaginary friend enough to save this family from losing everything? Join Mrs. Brown, Patricia Rivers, WMHT Education Specialist, and Maria DeLucia-Evans, Cornell Cooperative Extension's Human Ecology Educator, as they host a thought-provoking discussion of Crenshaw by award-winning author, Katherine Applegate. Ms. DeLucia-Evans will also provide guidance and strategies concerning the issues of homelessness and food insecurity and how to parent in times of stress and build resiliency. For grades 4-7 with caregiver. Dinner will be served. Bring a food pantry item for our neighbors in need. Please register and pick up a copy of the book.
