Author George Harrar
Tuesday February 26, 2013
7:00 PM until 9:00 PM
Long-time Wayland resident George Harrar will be discussing his last novel, Reunion at Red Paint Bay, at the library. The story was described by Kirkus Reviews as reminiscent of "Alfred Hitchcock's theme about how a seemingly innocent man can be sucked into a disturbing vortex of forces that lie just below the surface of "normal life..' Reunion at Red Paint Bay is Harrar's seventh novel for adult and young readers. He holds the unusual distinction of having three novels published within one year for three different audiences: adults, young adults, and middle-grade readers. Also an accomplished short fiction writer, Harrar won the Carson McCullers Prize from Story Magazine for "The 5:22," which was then selected for Best American Short Stories, 1999. He will discuss his current and past works during the evening. He lives in Wayland with his wife, Linda, a documentary film producer whose work has appeared on PBS, Discovery and Turner channels. They have one son, Tony, the inspiration for Harrar's middle-grade novel, "Parents Wanted." Location: Raytheon Room Click here to go to the Wayland Public Library calendar.
