Beyond the Beaten Path with White Memorial Conservation Center
Thursdays @ 11:00 AM. All ages. Registration required separately for each session.
Teachers from White Memorial Conservation Center will be joining us to teach us about nature, animals and conservation. Each session will be on a different topic and may feature live animals, props, and audience participatory activities. You are then invited to join us at our Read Beyond the Beaten Path Storytime at 2:30 PM to explore these topics further with stories, songs and activities for littles (separate registration).
One of our most popular programs, Animal Adaptations uses natural props, animal mounts, and a couple of LIVE animals to illustrate the definitions of both a structural and behavioral adaptation, as well as how adaptations help animals survive in different environments. Participants will then be shown “mystery props” from local animals, for which they will propose how these body parts serve as adaptations for the animals.
*This series of programs is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by Connecticut State Library.
