Mystery Book Group: Don't Bury the Lede

Wednesday November 6, 2019
3:00 PM until 4:15 PM

Discussion moderated by Carole Shmurak, author of The Susan Lombardi Mysteries and Professor Emerita at CCSU.

The word "lede" was once an alternative spelling of lead; now it's mainly journalistic jargon for the introductory portion of a news story--the first part of an article that gives the gist of the story and contains the most important points readers need to know. One should never "bury the lede" or begin a news story with nonessential details. This fall, we'll follow some journalists as they solve mysteries and try to avoid being buried themselves.

Truth Be Told [2014] by Hank Phillippi Ryan
In digging up the facts on the heartbreaking story of a middle class family evicted from their suburban home--and on other foreclosures--reporter Jane Ryland soon learns the truth behind a big-bucks scheme and the surprising players who will stop at nothing, including murder, to keep their goal a secret.
