EventKeeper : Tell a Friend
Mystery Book Group: The City by the Bay

Wednesday June 3, 2020
3:00 PM until 4:15 PM

The state of California looms large in the history of mysteries. Dashiell Hammett's The Maltese Falcon, set in San Francisco, and Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep, set in Los Angeles, essentially began the "hard-boiled" tradition of American mysteries. A few years ago, we read books set in The City of Angels; now it's time for mysteries set in the The City by the Bay.

The Spellman Files [2007] by Lisa Lutz
Izzy Spellman, a twenty-eight-year-old amalgamation of Nancy Drew and Bridget Jones, launches her career as a private investigator while working for the firm of her outlandishly dysfunctional family.

Copies of the book are available at the Info Desk. Discussion moderated by Carole Shmurak, author of the Susan Lombardi mysteries.

No registration required.
