Join Brandon for a fun discussion of a variety of films from John Wayne to Shirley Temple as we look "behind the scenes" to unpack each selection's historical significance, stylistic choices, and meanings.
You may laugh, you may cry, you may even raise an eyebrow and wonder "What was that?", but you'll certainly be affected. They don't call 'em moving pictures for nothing!
This week's selection: The Sweet Smell of Success (1957)
New York City newspaper writer J.J. Hunsecker (Burt Lancaster) holds considerable sway over public opinion with his Broadway column, but one thing that he can't control is his younger sister, Susan (Susan Harrison), who is in a relationship with an aspiring jazz guitarist. Hunsecker strongly disproves of the romance and recruits publicist Sidney Falco (Tony Curtis) to find a way to split the couple, no matter how ruthless the method. (Google)
