Museum Storytime: Meadowcroft Rock Shelter

Enjoy our special virtual storytime with the Meadowcroft Rock Shelter!
 
A representative from the museum will read a story that will introduce children to our archeological history a fun and engaging way. Following the storytime, kids will be encouraged to participate in an activity based on the story we read!
 
Registration is required; Zoom information will be sent two days before the event.
 
This virtual storytime is part of a series promoting the Experience Kits initiative at select Allegheny & Washington County Libraries. With your library card, receive free admission passes for up to four people to several local museums and historical sites. ABOUT MEADOWCROFT ROCK SHELTER: 
This National Historic Landmark, located in Avella, Washington County, Pa., features a massive rock overhang used 19,000 years ago for shelter by the first people in North America. In addition to ancient history at the Rockshelter, visitors to Meadowcroft can also step back in time to experience rural life over the past 500 years through a series of interpretive villages, including a 16th century Eastern Woodland Indian Village, an 18th century log cabin and open-sided trading post, and a 19th century village that includes a church, one-room schoolhouse, and blacksmith shop.
